The Dataset License
Every dataset sold on this site is licensed under these terms. The structure is one principle: the Individual license covers a person; the Commercial license covers an organization. Prices are listed on each record's page. Purchasing a license on a record page constitutes acceptance of these terms for the tier purchased, by the person or organization named at purchase.
▪THE INDIVIDUAL LICENSE
Grant. A perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for one named individual to use the dataset for research, analysis, journalism, litigation support, academic work, client engagements, and their own published work.
Permitted. Quoting individual claims (the proposition, quote, and citation fields) publicly with attribution. Derivative analyses, visualizations, and summaries. Your own local tools and notebooks, including personal retrieval indexes. Local copies and backups.
Not permitted. Use or access by anyone other than the named licensee: shared drives, team systems, and organizational deployments require the Commercial license. Redistributing the dataset or any substantial portion of it in bulk. Public rehosting or mirroring. Resale or sublicensing. Offering any product or service whose value derives substantially from redistribution of the dataset itself.
▪THE COMMERCIAL LICENSE
Grant. Everything in the Individual license, extended to the licensee organization: all employees and engaged contractors, for internal use and the organization's client work.
Additionally permitted. Ingestion into shared internal tools, indexes, and retrieval systems, including RAG pipelines. Client-facing deliverables that cite or quote individual claims with attribution. Internal model evaluation and fine-tuning, provided resulting models are not distributed outside the organization and are not built primarily to reproduce the dataset.
Not permitted. Offering the dataset, or a database or service substantially reproducing it, to third parties. Everything barred by the Individual license, except the one-person limit.
▪EVERY LICENSE INCLUDES
All future versions of the record. A license covers the identified record, including every subsequent version of it that Librarian Labs releases: corrections, re-audits, and coverage extensions, each disclosed in the record's changelog. Updates are delivered to the purchase email at no charge. New records are separate purchases.
The full package. Delivery by email within 24 hours of purchase: the dataset files, the data dictionary, this license, and the build audit report. The SHA-256 checksums published on the record page are checksums of the delivered files, so you can verify exactly what you received.
▪REFUNDS
14-day full refund: email zac@librarianlabs.com within 14 days of purchase and the full price returns to your original payment method. The free sample pack on each record page shows exactly the data you're buying, down to the schema of every delivered file. A refunded license terminates on refund.
▪WHAT IS ACTUALLY LICENSED
The compiled dataset files as delivered. Librarian Labs claims no ownership of underlying facts or of any person's quoted speech, and nothing in this license restricts rights you or anyone else independently holds, including fair use. This license is a contract governing use of the delivered compilation.
Integrity. Quote fields are verbatim from the cited sources. Do not alter quote text while attributing it to the dataset or to the speaker.
Attribution. "Source: Librarian Labs, [record title], [version], librarianlabs.com", or a per-claim citation using the claim_id.
▪TERMS
Accuracy. Claims are machine-extracted and audit-verified against source transcripts as described in the audit report shipped with each dataset; transcription and extraction can contain errors. THE DATASET IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are responsible for independent verification before relying on any claim for consequential decisions.
Liability. Librarian Labs' aggregate liability under this license is limited to the amount paid.
Termination. The license terminates on material breach. The sections on what is licensed, accuracy, and liability survive termination.
Governing law. California.
